Doula Services
What is a Doula?
Doulas are non-clinical professionals who provide birthing individuals and families with physical, emotional, and informational support.
Research shows that that doula support can reduce labor time, cesarean delivery, use of forceps during delivery (1). Doula care can also decrease the risk of preterm birth (2) and increase breastfeeding among mothers (3,4). It has also been shown to improve patient satisfaction and self-efficacy (4,5,6) and in 2008, the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology found doula care to be one of the most effective birth practices (7).
What is a Virtual Doula?
A virtual doula is a doula that is equipped to support families long-distance through text, phone calls, video calls, and/or online platforms such as Zoom.
